  6. Clearly a bad idea Adam. You know where hardline stands lead. Some like them
  7. and others hate them. This is really pretty moot right now though, since very
  8. little software requests such an acknowledgement.

  46. This is wise advice, given that there are a number of users (including me),
  47. who detest the idea of software presuming to decide for me whether or not to
  48. send a message.  It may be alright to ask the user whether to send an
  49. acknowledgement.

  53. The question of acknowledgements is really not an appropriate issue to be
  54. discussed in the IMAP mailing list.  It is orthogonal to the IMAP protocol.  I
  55. suggest the IETF-REMMAIL@UMICH.EDU mailing list, or the comp.mail.misc
  56. newsgroup.
